And are being worn by my son:
(like the pig pajamas?? they have pig faces on the front, and pig butts on the back.)
I started them for me, but they came out a little big, so he wins. Besides, they are more his colors than mine. Now I have two three other pairs of socks I started in October: the pink ones and the Cherry Tree Hill pair, and, well… the pair I started last night after I finished the socks up there. You knew I would, right? Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Huckleberry. Yum! Last spring I got several skeins of Bearfoot, I think on ebay, just before it got too hot to wear it. So they have been aging in my stash all summer, waiting for fall to get here. Between fall and the schizophrenic air conditioning system in the new offices (you can either have the temperature 85 degrees or 55 degrees, evidently), I need some warm socks.
I also promised pictures of the sock scraps that Kathy sent me:
We have some Lorna’s in Wisteria, some Koigu in lavender (colorway unknown), some Koigu from Yarnzilla’s current sale, and some emerald green that might be Opal Handpaint, or maybe not. I really like the green – I need to weigh it and see if there’s enough left for some socks. Then again, I have all that other leftover sock yarn that I didn’t send in the Sock Scrap Swap, no doubt there’s something I could use. I think that’s next on the sock list; I don’t have any green socks. Of course, I don’t really have many green clothes, either, but so what?
And here are the beginnings of my fuzzy feet slippers with the Kureyon Kathy sent.
I LOVE this color. I’m using a size 8 (5.0 mm) needle instead of the 10 (6.0 mm) that the pattern calls for, because I’m a really loose knitter. Well, and because the cable of the larger needle was stiff as a board. You just can’t do magic loop* with a stiff cable, even if the needle is 60” long. The 5.0 mm has a nice soft cable…I’ll just have to not felt the feet quite as much.
Can you tell this will be my first felting adventure? OK, my first on-purpose felting adventure. At any rate, even if they shrink too much they’re bound to fit someone I know.
*It’s not that I am so much in love with magic loop, although it does work really well for me…but those are the only needles I have in those sizes. I had an elann.com credit a while back and went wild buying 60” Addi circs in a lot of sizes, on the theory that they would work for everything – straight knitting, in-the-round knitting, etc. So far, it’s working out all right, except for this last little cable issue.
Wow! What a haul! Are you sure Kathy doesn't want to be my friend, too?
Judy, my little dragonfly, you are tagged. Go check my post and do the
