Just Finish Something

posted Tuesday, 22 November 2005

So now that I’m done with the fingerless gloves for Katie and the Bearfoot socks for me, what to do next?  Other than, of course, the 347 projects that are in various stages of completion in my living space?  Tammy at Polka Dot Mittens is having a finish-fest of her own, and I think I will adopt her credo:

In that spirit, I will now work on some half-done sock projects that have been shoved into the knitting basket on the far side of the bed.  I have some Lorna’s in Happy Valley for Katie,

and the rest of a pair made from the pink German yarn that I just got.  For…. Katie.  Wait a minute, what’s up here?

And 1.05 fingerless gloves for the coffee lady:

And then there are the hardly-started fuzzy feet:

But look what came yesterday!!

New yarn from Knitpicks, and a whole book of Louisa Harding patterns for it, just asking to be knit up for Christmas gifts.  Nope, first I will finish a pair of socks, dammit, then I’ll start some mittens for my neighbor, or a scarf for someone at work, or….

In the meantime, in my never-ending search for a purse / knitting bag that actually stays on my shoulder, I read in Enchanting Juno’s comments a glowing recommendation from Christine for the Healthy Back Bag.  So I ordered one.  Now that I need a cane thanks to my crummy knees, it’s hard to get to my desk with all the crap Very Important Stuff that I need every day.  I end up with a shoulder bag falling off my shoulder, a knitting tote containing my lunch, my knitting, and various other Very Important Stuff dangling from my wrist, my car keys hanging from a finger on the hand not wielding the cane, and usually my mandatory work badge in my teeth.  Very businesslike.  Christine says these bags stay where they are supposed to, so I’ll find out pretty soon!  I should be able to get the purse stuff and the tote stuff all into it, so I’ll actually have a free hand if I want to bring in an espresso!

Oh, I like your uncountable projects. Specially the part where you dig them from the knitting basket near your bed. I too like to have some knitting near by there. The idea to make gloves for the coffee lady is so nice. They turn out very cheerful, she will surely love them.
