Yes, Sockbug and Stephanie, it is finally cold enough for me. At least now I have a chance to wear socks and gloves. Not in the office, though…we have a Thermostat Nazi who (even though there is a locked box around the thermostat) gets out her little straightened-out paper clip, sneaks her little heinie into OUR part of the office where the thermostat lives, and shoves the heat up to unbearable levels. There’s one in every office, isn’t there? I have lost the energy to fight with people like this, so I just turn on my desk fan. Stirs the hot air around some. And forgive me for hoping that she gets to spend a long time in a very warm place; self-important people bug me.
I don’t have many pictures today; I’ve been working on the Secret Christmas Project, as well as my Bearfoot socks, which are about done. At least, I’m past the gusset on the second one, so we are almost there. If I exert myself, maybe I can finish them tonight and wear them tomorrow.
I’ve been recruited by my daughter to finish her fingerless gloves this coming weekend, so that’s what I’ll be doing. I finished the first one and was casting on for the second when she got funny on me and was messing up my counting (you know, saying “57, 63, 13” when you’re trying to count the cast-on stitches), so I just put it away for a while. But I’m over it now, so I’ll get it out and finish that baby up! I even bought some toothpicks 5” 2mm dpn’s to do the thumb with. I have been using one long circ, and it works perfectly well, but I really feel like a dumbass using a 60” circ for the 12 thumb stitches. So I thought I’d pretend to be a grownup and get some dpn’s. Besides, it’s time for me to learn how to use them, at least! We’ll see how well it works; the needles look too short to hold many stitches.
It is so cool to see where you are, you people who read this blog! Thanks to those who have put yourselves on the map, and anyone who hasn't, click here to enter the Dragonflyknits Sock Yarn Giveaway...I'll draw a name next Friday and send some turkey -- no, wait, sock yarn, yeah, that's it! -- to someone on the map. Everyone in the Staties will already have had their Maximum Yearly Intake of turkey by then; and I'm pretty sure it's not legal to send meat in the mail anyway.
Mailing meat might excite any drug-sniffing dogs in the area...
I (most emphatically) do not want to win turkey, but you can send me those
fabulous Bearfoot socks, OK?
Great minds think alike! I too have just purchased a set of 5 " toothpicks.
I love them! I have been using a set of addi natura 2.5mm 8" Dp's for about
a year now for socks but for fingerless glioves they are about as bad as
you circular! Don't worry I am happily knitting away on 60 st and they are
plenty big enough :-)
